Project SEARCH York at The City of Vaughan

The program is a collaborative partnership using support and resources from: Education, Business and Community Employment Agencies.  The focus of the program is on serving young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who can benefit from personalized support in an intensive year of career development and internship experience.

School Board:

The York Catholic District School Board is the first school board in York Region to offer this unique transition to work program for students with disabilities. As part of the YCDSB Pathways to EmployABILITY Program, Project SEARCH York provides a dedicated classroom teacher to deliver employability skills curriculum, support transit training in conjunction with York Region Transit and liaise with host business departments.

Host Business:

The City of Vaughan is the host business providing a training room, mentors and internships for the YCDSB interns. A variety of departments throughout the corporation will be available to choose from to allow for career exploration and training.

Community Agency:

Community Living York South (CLYS) is providing the Skills Trainers to support interns in the training room, while transit training and on the job during their internship rotations at the City of Vaughan. After graduating from the program, CLYS will continue to support the interns with community resources to address their employment needs.
